Advice for Beginner Salesforce Developer

Just starting out on your development journey? It can be a bit intimidating.

Where do you start? Someone said I should grind Trailhead. Another video said I should get 5 certifications. A guy on Reddit said Salesforce development is dead.

You can probably justify any of these viewpoints and I actually can’t tell you if they are right.

What I can tell you is the best way (and as cliche as it sounds) is to practice. So my advice is to take every day as an opportunity to learn a new development concept. It will be hard at first but if you stick with it code will make sense.

I’m just here to give you a little extra motivation.

I gathered with other successful Salesforce developers and got their recommendations on getting started.

One of the biggest resources I’ve heard suggested over and over throughout the years is this book:

Clean Code by Bob Martin

Also, be where other Salesforce professionals are:

Discord, Slack, Chatter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc... get connected and network.
