To hide or not to hide… Salesforce Credential Id

Should you cover your Salesforce credential Id?

Short Answer: No…

I recently got my application architect certification and was about to share my accomplishment with the Salesforce community and I paused. Should I block out my credential id? I don’t want anyone taking my number and passing it off as their own… So I fired up my Google-fu to answer the question of if I should block out my credential id and here’s what I found...

It’s an auto number

The credential id is a sequential number counting up. I could guess the range of your cert id based on when you posted it.

Salesforce Certification Verification

If you are worried about someone passing off your certification id as their own don’t. Anyone can verify the certification you have on Trailhead. Employers should always verify certification on Trailhead instead of believing what’s on a resume or LinkedIn.

Salesforce said it’s okay to show your credential id

A twitter thread with the Trailhead and members from the Salesforce Ohana may have finally put this to rest. In that short thread, Trailhead responds to Andy and Scott on the questions of hiding your cred id saying “There is really no reason to do this though, as all certifications can be verified through https://sforce.co/2GeXpxN.”.
